The ancient stork tower, located on the east bank of the Yellow River to the west of Puzhou ancient city in yongji city, Shanxi Province, only existed for more than 700 years and was destroyed in the war. Later, due to the flood of the Yellow River, the riverbed was relocated, so the site was also submerged. Until 2002, the rebuilt stork house was once again "in the same box" with the Yellow River.

The Yellow River, which runs from north to south, turns east at the junction of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan. Thanks to the unique irrigation conditions, it has become the earliest area of wheat maturity in Shanxi. However, due to the urgency of the bend, floods in the Yellow River often break dikes and destroy fields.
In the traditional culture of China, the cow is a water-saving beast. Yellow River Tieniu is located on the site of Pujin Ferry, which is adjacent to the stork tower. It is nearly 1300 years old. Facing the Yellow River, they are glaring, squatting with their front legs pushed and their muscle lines are very beautiful, reflecting a very magnificent momentum.

As an important channel for transporting grain, iron, salt and other materials, Pujin Ferry was an important ferry in the middle reaches of the ancient Yellow River. However, the previous Pujin pontoon bridge was a bamboo cable pontoon bridge with wooden stakes as ground anchors, which was easily washed away by the Yellow River. During the Kaiyuan period of Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty decided to build a new Pujin pontoon bridge with the help of the whole country. This "national project" changed the "bamboo cable boat" to "iron cable boat", and cast four iron cows on both sides of the Yellow River as fixed ground anchors.

These iron cows are no ordinary cows, and the structure and function of inclined column piles under them are a model of ancient bridge engineering. Below each iron cow, there are six long iron pillars connected with the cow’s body, which are firmly embedded in the ground. At the same time, the "foot" protruding from the column pile in the opposite direction increases the resistance and ensures the stability and firmness of the upper iron cow.

As the saying goes, "thirty years in Hedong, thirty years in Hexi" happened in this land at the foot of Tieniu. After about 500 years of holding the post, the Yellow River Iron Bull gradually sank into the sediment because of the destruction of the pontoon bridge and the diversion of the Yellow River, and it was not re-appeared until it was excavated by archaeology in 1989.

Today, thousands of years later, several modern bridges are like neon lights flying across the banks of the Yellow River. Lv Guiming said that the water quality of the Yellow River is getting better and better, and the sediment is getting less and less.
