Extremely rare! Black hole "devours" stars.
Beijing, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) According to foreign media reports, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) recently said that the exoplanet detector Tess captured the amazing picture of a black hole "swallowing" a star: a star was attracted by a black hole and was torn by tidal interference.

Astronomers at NASA pointed out that it is extremely rare to observe the process of stars being pulled to pieces, and this "star tidal damage" will only happen once every 10,000 to 100,000 years. The event was named "ASASSN-19bt".
According to the observation report released by NASA, the exoplanet detector Tess launched by NASA has been running for more than one year, and its task is to investigate whether there are planets in the stars within 300 light years near the earth.
It is reported that Tess first observed the phenomenon of "star tidal destruction" on January 21st. However, since the satellite only sends data to the Earth once every two weeks, and the received data must be processed at the Ames Research Center of NASA in Silicon Valley, California, it was not until March 13th that the first data sent back by Tess was obtained.
Astronomers believe that the black hole that triggered the "ASASSN-19bt" event is 6 million times the mass of the sun. It is located in the center of a galaxy named 2MASX J07001137-6602251, 375 million light years away from the earth. The torn star may be similar in size to the sun.
Boyd, a NASA scientist, said that this time, not only can the whole process be observed for a long time at the beginning of the phenomenon, but it is really lucky, and it is also very helpful for scientists to understand various outbreaks in the universe.
It is said that the paper describing this discovery was published in the Journal of Astrophysics on September 27th, local time.
