Ministry of Environmental Protection: North Korea’s nuclear test has not affected China’s environment and public health.

  Cctv newsAccording to the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Environmental Protection today reported the progress of emergency response to the sixth nuclear test of North Korea. As of 10: 00 on September 9, the real-time monitoring data of the atmosphere, mobile monitoring vehicles, drones and aerial survey data obtained by the automatic monitoring station of radiation environment in the northeast border and surrounding areas were at normal levels. No artificial radionuclides were detected in the samples of atmosphere, precipitation, surface water, groundwater and surface sediments collected in Jilin, Liaoning, Heilongjiang and Shandong provinces. The monitoring results show that the North Korean nuclear test has not affected China’s environment and public health.

  In response to the sixth nuclear test conducted by North Korea on September 3, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (National Nuclear Safety Administration), together with water conservancy, health planning, industrial information, meteorology, earthquake and other departments, as well as the headquarters of the Armed Police, the people’s governments of Kyrgyzstan, Liaoning, Heilongjiang and Shandong, and relevant departments of the military, carried out three-dimensional monitoring for the sixth nuclear test conducted by North Korea according to local meteorological conditions and technical conclusions, including atmospheric and surface water.

  Subsequently, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (National Nuclear Safety Administration) will continue to carry out radiation emergency monitoring in border areas with relevant units, collect monitoring data in time and publish them on the official website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection on a regular basis.
